Hercules, A Basketball Professional!!!!

     " It was amazing how he dunked over Kobe like he was thin air!" one spectator exclaimed. " It's as
if he had practiced for centuries!" another said. Hercules has recently joined the Miami Heat and has lead them on a streak of wins! Their last game was against the Lakers and the Lakers just got crushed! Dwane crossed Kobe, Lebron spun Kobe, and most of all, Hercules dunked on Kobe.

Hercules may even beat all the records made in NBA history. The association said Hercules was so good that they decided that he would get the ring for every year till the end of his retirement! That's just one of the accomplishments. Do you think Hercules deserves these rewards? Also, do you think that anyone can defeat this Basketball machine? Zeus, King of the Olympians!

Introduction

     Have you ever heard of Greek mythology? If you have you may have heard of Zeus. He was a determined, powerful Greek god. He wouldn't have been the ruler if it wasn't for his determination. His father, Cronus, ate his Zeus's brothers and sisters knowing that one of his children would overthrow Cronus's kingdom. Fortunately, Zeus's mother hid Zeus and gave Cronus a rock to eat instead. As Zeus grew up he freed three monsters that would help him defeat his father. As a gift of freedom the monsters gave Zeus the power of lightning. Later, Zeus gave his father something to eat which made him throw up his brothers and sister. Together they defeated Cronus and gained control of the kingdom.

What Do I Think?

     I think this is the best greek god of all. After all, he is the king of the olympians. I would respect him greatly knowing that he could electrocute me in less than a second. Just look at the picture above. Doesn't that intimidate you in the slightest way? Well it scares me as much as a mouse cornered by the most monstrous cat in the world. Although, I think Zeus is a good roll model too. He was determined and because of that freed his siblings and even got the power of lightning! Isn't Zeus just so cool!?!

California has been completely turned to stone by Medusa, while Washington is nothing but ashes. Only one person lived to tell the tale. Mr. Bernstein says, “It was so unrealistic. I saw Hydra’s head appear above the water so I drove away from him.” There are no sightings of any others. 

As the monsters approach they are wiping out everything in their path. They are beginning to clear central America. Typhon destroys the Mayan Ruins with two strikes of his tail. Minotaur rams over the AT&T Stadium in Texas. Will us humans survive!?!

Down A Dark Hall

A Summary

     Down A Dark Hall is a Gothic novel. A mysterious and scary book as this shouldn't be kept unread, you know? Well, if you haven't read it yet then this may give you the idea of what you are missing. It all started when Kit wanted to go to a boarding school with her friend,Tracy. When she got in and Tracy didn't she pleaded with her mom not to go, no was not an exception. As she reached the school she had word for it-"evil". Later on she finds out that there are only 3 other students attending and they all are special in a peculiar way. One by one they each find out they have new talents that are given instantly. Later, Kit, at around 2 o' clock, finds herself sitting in front of the piano and one of the teachers next to her recording her. Kit asks what happens and brings everyone else down there. Read the book in order to find out what happens!

What Do I Think?

     This story was an addictive, bone tingling book. I don't usually like books, but this one was different. With my teacher reading it to us half the time with perfect dialogue this book got interesting in deed. In other words, a book this good shouldn't be kept lying around. To be honest this book scared a little, but what's the point of your life if you don't get scared? Don't you want to come across something at one point and just scream your hart off? It happened to me just a couple of days ago. The point is that you should read it and it doesn't matter if you get a little scared. So when you finish reading this get to the nearest Down a Dark Hall book and start reading (once you like this blog, that is).

Edgar Allan Poe: The Poet

A Man of Wonder

     Amazing poems, and amazing poet. All born on January 19, 1809 in Boston, Massachusetts found in the U.S. . For some people his poems were worth dying for! Where do you think he got his ideas. What in inspired him in other words? Take a guess. His family? The nature around him? Well, as he moved from place to place, devoting all his time on literature ,he stayed in Baltimore from1831 to 1835. There he got his inspiration from Virginia, his aunt's daughter. And then... all his work flew out of him like the sky not holding back any more and just letting the wind blow everything away with no authority and control. Now, there are stuff you may not know about Edgar Allan Poe. For instance, did you know he died a mysterious death. No one knows how he passed away. The last words he said were, " Lord, help my poor soul." Also, did you know that Edgar Allan Poe wrote at least 70 poems though not all of them were published. To end his life he died on 1849, a life living it to the fullest.

The message in the poem that the author is trying to say is that he likes her and this is his love poem to her. Him as in Edgar Allan Poe and her as in his wife. I chose to show you this poem because it showed uniqueness from the rest fir some reason. I read it before and I just think it is different. I can't relate to this poem because I don't have a love in my life yet. Maybe not for another 10 years or so. So absolutely no relation! Finally, I think the poem has a happy mood trying to bring happiness and affection to certain woman I think. I believe this because it is a Valentines poem so the poet may want to show respect and kindness toward it's "target".

Iceland is Awesome!

Iceland!

     Ever been on island. Well, if you read the title you probably know that I'm talking about Iceland, the 18th biggest island on the planet. If you don't know where it is it lies in the North Atlantic Ocean, home to about 320,000 people. However, most of the population lies in the southwestern part of Iceland where the capital city of Reykjavi is. The rest is randomly placed throughout the rest of the island. And how big do you think it is? 20,000 square miles? 60,000? Nope! The correct answer is 40,000 square miles. Also, how cold do you think Iceland is on average? Maybe 0 degrees farenhiet. Or possibly -30 degrees farenheit. Doesn't that sound reasonable? Well, you are...( drum roll:dum dum dum dum)...wrong! It may even be warmer than New Jersey in the winter. How could this be true you ask? I mean Iceland is at the tip of the Artic Circle. Well, the Gulf Stream brings heat to the whole island making it a cozy place to be. This also helps with the ice in the costal line. Now there will be no ice just tumbling on to shore or freezing all the water on the coast. Iceland, don't fear, for the Gulf Stream is here!

How I feel?

     "Let me help you with that." Oh I'm sorry I was just booking my friend a ticket to Iceland. I told him all about my blog and he just had to take a vacation there. I'm just helping him pack his clothes. "Peace Albert!" So where were we. Oh yeah, I was talking about how good Iceland is. My words about it: great place, wonderful scenery, nice climate, and just a nice island to be on. Next time your there just take some time do some of the stuff i said in this blog like visiting the scenery and/or maybe even taking a shower, getting in comfy clothes and wrap yourself in blankets, make some hot chocolate, and finally sit in front of the TV and just relaxing. Take my advice, you'll love it.

A Phone for Youngsters

     Ever dread buying your child a phone. If they are between the ages of 4-8 then I have the perfect phone for you. The idea of this phone is to ensure your child's safety. Have you ever lost your child. Maybe at Target or another store. Well, my mom did. Careless, right? Well, I bet it will happen to you at one point. So be prepared. I introduce to you the latest, the most fashionable FiLIP!!! This is a very good watch-like phone that allows you/your parents to see where ever you/your child is. So now if you loose your child or get lost your self your answer will be on your wrist. This allows you to make five contacts and has 2 buttons on the side of it. The buttons allow you to call and scroll down. Also, are you worried about your child texting. Well, that's no biggie either. The contact list can only be edited by you/your parents smartphone. So your parents can edit the contacts so that your mom, your dad, grandpa, grandma, and a trusted relative will be in your contacts. Now, those will be the only people you can text. And don't worry about if it will break. The FiLIP is practically indestructible. It has a strong. rigid plastic casing making it harder than ever to demolish. Plus, no apps or games are available for the FiLIP so don't worry about that. Now, do you see the importance and capability of the FiLIP. Well, I do.

My Opinion

     Isn't that so cool. A phone for kids. It's wierd because my parents don't let me have a phone while they already made phones for younger aged kids. I'm starting to think my mom just doesn't want me to have a phone just because. Now, back on topic. The FiLIP has everything a child needs. Notice how I didn't say wants. I said needs. There's a difference you know. As i was saying there is almost nothing better that could improve the FiLIP. Isn't that amazing.

Are Dragons Real?

The Beast

     At young ages you might think that dragons are real. You may say that knight killed them all or they rule the sky world or something. But, now people are saying that they are actually real. Just think about it...there are stories about these mythological creatures in many cultures. They all speak of them as these flying beasts. How would all these people think of this exact same creature? This leads many people to believe that they were at one point real. Maybe they were killed with the dinosaurs during the meteor shower or died of no food after the meteor shower. This leads many people to conclude DRAGONS ARE REAL!!!

My Opinion

     Wow! Dragons could possibly be real!!! I mean this is amazing. A new species known to man yet not thought real. If we had proof people against that would feel like a fool on April Fools Day! I wonder what they would be like. Tiny? Huge? Winged? Fire breathing!?? Maybe in the future-hopefully in our life time-we will find evidence of the beastly species. But, we can't control the future so we'll just have to wait and be patient. Or maybe you could, yourself, just go and discover the animal. Overall, it is an exciting "doozy".

     Many people want a phone, right? Well, this is a phone worth waiting for, coming out in September. With new features such as a transparent screen, the skinniest and lightest iPhone yet, and the home button is touch screen. Isn't it soooooooo cool! Read ahead to find all about the iPhone 6. My Opinion

     Wow!!! The new iPhone is rapidly hitting us with new features. I think the modified home button and transparent front is the best improvement to the iPhone. I wish there were new colors it could come in, though. Not that it's a big deal, anyways. For the last two iPhones that came out the colors were really the only difference. Besides that nothing really changed. That's why they were bad to me.

    Have you ever done homework Sunday night rushing to finish 20 math problems or tried to type up an essay all while watching TV, checking your Facebook page, texting your friend, and watching YouTube? Out of the question, though, technology is very useful. With Facebook you could stay in touch with friends that are oceans and 100's of miles away and texting is also a second use for that. YouTube makes learning easier by just searching up educational videos. We can't forget Google either. With this search engine you can find the capital of Rome in 3 seconds flat.

Good or Bad (Part 2)

     As you know There is a bad side to technology ,even though you might be trying to say no because you support it. Some people don't care about work. They say they will use their device for working purposes yet to find out that they have never done anything school related on it besides texting students from class. Have they ever even went outside to talk face to face or play some football together. Pick your side. What do you think?

     As you know technology has many abilities, including educational ones. Where do you think people get the information for projects and reports from? Besides books it's most probably going to be from electronics. In addition, (as I had said before)they allow you to stay in touch with others, you could see educational videos that can teach you new things, and you could find useful info in three seconds flat. All this with a simple (not actually simple for some people) device making life easier and in some cases more fun.

     Did you know the average American teenager owns three to four technological devices. Many experts think these are just distractions not helping students learn anything. Think about it. Have you ever used your phone for an emergency or just to text your friends. Plus, all that time having that laptop on your lap or your phone in hand takes time away from real time relationships.

A Personal Water Craft

Introduction

     Maybe people enjoy deeping their feet in a pool while others like to speed over the water. You probably know what I'm talking about. A speedboat! Have you ever ridden in one? It could be a wonderful experience to bumb around the top of the water and feeling the spray of water in your hair. To make it even better, would you like to ride a bike or motorcycle on top of the water?!? Wouldn't that be cool? Well, this can all come possible with a personal water craft. You may know or heard of theses fantastic machines. Maybe seen them on lakesor heard of them in books. Since the 1960s, these tint, speedy personal boats have become extremely popular. One difference between a personal water craft (PWC) and a speed boat is that the speed boat has a powerful propeller that boosts it forward. Well, a PWC is moved by powerful squirts of water that propel it forward. You might think that how would the water be able to push the car with great speed even though it sometimes carries a weight way more than itself. Well, this is all done with a huge engine probably the size of one in a small car or in a big motorcycle. My Opinion

     Did you see that amazing stunt dude!!! That was amazing!!! I just can't believe those amazing stunts he did. They were outstanding!!! Esspescially that water craft. That looks really nice, fancy, and the latest (it looks like that at least). Would you like to ride one of these amazing vehicles? I would (maybe). I would want a professoinal to ride and me be on the vehicle behing them. The only worry I would have is falling off or getting hurt.

Cars of the Future

Introduction

     Many key days in life of others are the day they get a car. High school students usually want a car in their sophomore year. In the future they will be begging for one of those new cars that have opened new possibilities in the automotive world. But, we all know that these possibilities have not yet been unlocked. It all started with Glenn Curtiss who tried to invent the flying ( it never really flew, though).  That's when everyone else started trying to hit that accomplishment. Although, not all futuristic cars have to fly. There have been other ideas such as adaptive cruise control. Adding the word adaptive made it futuristic because if the traffic increases it will slow down by itself. That will be a great advancement-to me.
 

My Opinion

     I, myself, think it's amazing that are traffic today might once be considered air traffic. Speaking of air traffic what do you think will be the first automotive advancement. Flying cars or adaptive cruise control. Also, how much do you think it will cost? Probably more than a million (I'm not joking). But still, it'll be great know there is a new type of technological path that could branch off to other amazing ideas.

Walt Disney

An Amazing Life

     Walt Disney had a unique early life that obviously lead to the success he had as an adult. To start from the beggining he was born on December 5, 1901 in Chicago, Illinios. For most of his childhood he drew, painted, and sold pictures to neighbors, family, and friends. As he grew up he moved to Kansas City. There he found a new job with the railroad, selling snacks. Later he attended McKInley High School where he took drawing and photography classes.For a family life he married one of his first employees, Lillian Bounds. They would later be blessed with 2 daughters. As he lived he had some major accomplishments. First of all, Walt created a new character , Mickey Mouse. Secondly he made the world's first synchronized sound cartoon. Thirdly, in 1932, the production entitled Flowers and Trees won Walt the first if his studios Academy Awards.

Quotes

     Through out Walt's life he had many famous qoutes. One of the quotes he had said was,"If you can dream it, you can do it." My opinion for this quote is that since it inspires someone to follow your dreams it is a good quote to live by. Another quote he said was,"The way to get started is to quit talking and bedin doing." This qoute I like because it means you can talk the talk, but can you walk the walk. The third and final quote I'm going to be sharing is."All our dreams can come true, if we have the courage to pursue them." My opinion for this qoute is that I like it because it shows that in order to do something you need to try.

Accomplishments

     Walt Disney acheived many things in his life. I'm going to talk about 3 of them. Did you know Walt created the new, now-famous character,Mickey Mouse? This is amazing. Just think asking little children who Walt DIsney is. At first they probablt won't know. But, once I say he created Mickey Mouse they will be like I LOVE WALT DISNEY!!! Another one of his accomplishments was that he made the world's first synchronized sound cartoon. A synchronized sound cartoon is a cartoon that...I'll just give an example. It's when if a character gets hit with a pot that sound of him getting hit is what you will hear. The third and final accomplishment I am going to talk about is that in 1932, the production Flowers and Trees won Walt the first of his studio's Academy Awards. This could inspire someone because in the life that he went through he was so successful that anyone could probably be as successful with not-so-good lead life.

A Phone Worth Keeping

     Have you ever went to Best Buy and pleaded to your parents for a phone. Well, in my blog below you will find a phone worth begging for. Atleast that's what I think. Phonebloks is a new design that came out last year (so I can't really call it new) that is worth supporting and especially buying. It's built up of compartments so that you can customize it. Also, it is made up of wasted electronic parts so it's recycling. So let's start off with customizing. This phone is made up of compartments like I had said earlier. The neat thing is, though, that for instance you are an outdoors person who likes taking pictures. Then you could take out/decrease the space of the speed area. By doing this you can upgrade your camera to make your camera better than the nokia ones in the commercials. Check the video below to get even more information.

My Opinion

     I think it is amazing to have such a unique phone. Especially with these one of a kind characteristics. I support Phonebloks and I think you should, too. This phone could be as popular as the iphone except for an even longer amount of time. Because of it's special ability to be able to have it customized, it can be useful to all. Unlike the iphone or Samsung it can be useful to a sit-around-all-day type of person.who does't even use pictures. You could just take that and almost every thing else out and keep two major components, the battery and the speed. Taddaa! This is one of the many reasons i think Phonebloks will reach the popularity of an iphone and excell beyond it!

Can You Train A Goldfish?

     Thanks to the Chinese Sun Dynasty we now have more than 100 types of goldfish. Although have you ever thought that a goldfish could be as trained as a dog. According to wonderopolis.org it states," Though some people claim that goldfish might not be the brightest bulbs in the tank, researchers are making discoveries that blow this theory out of the water." Now that is surprising. Also, if you watch the video below it looks the goldfish has the mind of a tamed lion combined with the mind of an exceptionable dog (you might want to skip the beginning 'cause it's nothing but song).

My Opinion

     I am surprised to find out that goldfish could be trained fish. In wonderopolis.org it says that according to a study lead by Jonathan Lovell at Plymouth University found that some fish can be successfully trained to swim toward a particular sound. This is amazing! Now we might even be able to invent a particular underwater mail system. We just have to put the exact sound and attach a piece of mail to that fish and it will go there all by itself (If this idea becomes a million dollar idea I get 75% of the profit. Yeah, I think that's a fair share.). The only problem is that they might not go as fast as a plane sooooo... WE ADD ROCKET BOOSTERS TO THEIR SIDES! Also, these rocket boosters should be powered by anything we don't use and leave to the side or what people litter. You will thank me for this idea in the future.

My Gift To A Baby Would Have To Be...

Wow

     If you were a baby what would you want for your first/second birthday. Maybe a toy truck or possibly a stuffed animal. What about a cardboard box? Right now, I bet that you're making one of those awkward and confused faces and you might be hoing like waaaahhhhhh! Also, you're welcome for your baby brother's/sister's next birthday present. Anyways, let's get back to the topic. Where were we? Oh yea, the part where you're like waahhhhh! I wish I could see the look on your face. It would've been priceless. You probably would've never thought that 'cause you use it to ship stuff from place to place it would've been a babies gift from me. Obviously now, you must not even know that the cardboard box was added to the National Toys Hall of Fame in 2005!

My Opinion

     I think it is a great fact that most babies love cardboard boxes as a gift. I mean...to make it into the toy Hall of Fame is unimaginable.Also, would you ever think a baby would love a cardboard box more than the toy inside of it (as seen in the first video). That's hysterical. But look at the posssibilities. You could use your imagination as a baby to unlimittless creativity and that box could turn into your first roller coaster. That's amazing once you think about it.

The Oldest Living Tree

Introduction

     Have you ever grown a tree? If you have you would probably know it takes a long time to grow, longer than a flower or crops. They reach great heights, but that involves the disadvantage of time spand. Also, have you ever noticed that when you go outside you might be along side some of the oldest organisms you could ever find. Trees!

That's Old!

     Yes, these trees could be hundreds or even thousands of years old. Unless trees are harmed they can live for centuries. So scientists have looked for the oldest tree in the world. Well, right now we believe it is the ancient bristlecone pine. It's name, Methuselah ( name of the oldest person in the Bible). Methuselah's age? Over 4,840 years old! Yup, you heard me. 4,840 years old. Just how when was she born. Well, this 5,000 year old tree was born on approximately 3,000 B.C. Wow!

My Opinion

     I think it is just amazing to know there is something out there that we could see that could be one of the oldest organisms we might see. Although, it wasn't always the top dog. There was an even older bristlecone named Prometheus. This tree was over 5,000 years old. To my disturbance I found out it had been CUT DOWN in Nevada by a U.S. Federal Service graduate in 1964. I can't believe it! An older tree than this cut down. This gut must be crazy. Taking a peice of our history and nature and destroying it. Atleast there's another tree which I hope will survive into the future.
